OK, so I am quietly going about my peaceful voting for my little bros band and perusing various blogs that I haven't seen in a while when I realize that I have been tagged. Well, I'd better get up on this one!
1 - He was a regular guy in a spectacular way. How many times people alluded to the carpenter's son and wonder how he could possibly be the chosen one.
2 - He was never afraid to speak the truth no matter where or when. Especially when it was unpopular to do so.
3 - He covers all my sin on every level.
4 - His ministry began at the opportune moment and lasted just a few years. This gives me hope that I have not missed my "calling" and that the parts of my life that are not in the limelight are just as important.
5 - He's preparing a place...the ultimate hope and joy that life on earth is just the beginning...not the beginning and the end.
I'll leave Jason to make his own 5 and count him as being my tag

Changes

The frank family is having lots of adjustments right now. Our friends the potters just moved to Michigan (their last family pic in front of their house is above). This has been hard on all of us...we will miss them very much.
I (Kim) am switching to a new school in the fall. I had to say goodbye to the many friends I have at Mill Creek (the old school took my keys yesterday) . I am really looking forward to working with K-4 at Kentucky Trail Elementary, but will miss my friends :(
I am also, beginning my Master's degree on June 5 with Baker University. I'll add their logo on another day. This will mean that I have a lot of work to do and the Jason and the girls will be saying goodbye to mommy every Tuesday night for the next 18 months.
This has been a lot of transition at one time. On the bright side...it's now summer time and I should get plenty of R&R before teaching summer school in July. That is, if the girls stop waking up between 5 and 6 am every day.

Our Farm?!

As a family we have come to the place where we really wish to have more of a small town life. Our desires now are for acres, barns, cows, chickens, sheep, goats, pigs, etc... Anyway, here is a place that we are looking at buying. It is 15 acres and is located in Kingsville, MO. Let us know what you think of it!

Here's a column that everyone in America should read ---
Imus isn’t the real bad guy
Instead of wasting time on irrelevant shock jock, black leaders need to be fighting a growing gangster culture.
By JASON WHITLOCK - Columnist
Thank you, Don Imus. You’ve given us (black people) an excuse to avoid our real problem.
You’ve given Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson another opportunity to pretend that the old fight, which is now the safe and lucrative fight, is still the most important fight in our push for true economic and social equality.
You’ve given Vivian Stringer and Rutgers the chance to hold a nationally televised recruiting celebration expertly disguised as a news conference to respond to your poor attempt at humor.
Thank you, Don Imus. You extended Black History Month to April, and we can once again wallow in victimhood, protest like it’s 1965 and delude ourselves into believing that fixing your hatred is more necessary than eradicating our self-hatred.
The bigots win again.
While we’re fixated on a bad joke cracked by an irrelevant, bad shock jock, I’m sure at least one of the marvelous young women on the Rutgers basketball team is somewhere snapping her fingers to the beat of 50 Cent’s or Snoop Dogg’s or Young Jeezy’s latest ode glorifying nappy-headed pimps and hos.
I ain’t saying Jesse, Al and Vivian are gold-diggas, but they don’t have the heart to mount a legitimate campaign against the real black-folk killas.
It is us. At this time, we are our own worst enemies. We have allowed our youths to buy into a culture (hip hop) that has been perverted, corrupted and overtaken by prison culture. The music, attitude and behavior expressed in this culture is anti-black, anti-education, demeaning, self-destructive, pro-drug dealing and violent.
Rather than confront this heinous enemy from within, we sit back and wait for someone like Imus to have a slip of the tongue and make the mistake of repeating the things we say about ourselves.
It’s embarrassing. Dave Chappelle was offered $50 million to make racially insensitive jokes about black and white people on TV. He was hailed as a genius. Black comedians routinely crack jokes about white and black people, and we all laugh out loud.
I’m no Don Imus apologist. He and his tiny companion Mike Lupica blasted me after I fell out with ESPN. Imus is a hack.
But, in my view, he didn’t do anything outside the norm for shock jocks and comedians. He also offered an apology. That should’ve been the end of this whole affair. Instead, it’s only the beginning. It’s an opportunity for Stringer, Jackson and Sharpton to step on victim platforms and elevate themselves and their agenda$.
I watched the Rutgers news conference and was ashamed.
Martin Luther King Jr. spoke for eight minutes in 1963 at the March on Washington. At the time, black people could be lynched and denied fundamental rights with little thought. With the comments of a talk-show host most of her players had never heard of before last week serving as her excuse, Vivian Stringer rambled on for 30 minutes about the amazing season her team had.
Somehow, we’re supposed to believe that the comments of a man with virtually no connection to the sports world ruined Rutgers’ wonderful season. Had a broadcaster with credibility and a platform in the sports world uttered the words Imus did, I could understand a level of outrage.
But an hourlong press conference over a man who has already apologized, already been suspended and is already insignificant is just plain intellectually dishonest. This is opportunism. This is a distraction.
In the grand scheme, Don Imus is no threat to us in general and no threat to black women in particular. If his words are so powerful and so destructive and must be rebuked so forcefully, then what should we do about the idiot rappers on BET, MTV and every black-owned radio station in the country who use words much more powerful and much more destructive?
I don’t listen or watch Imus’ show regularly. Has he at any point glorified selling crack cocaine to black women? Has he celebrated black men shooting each other randomly? Has he suggested in any way that it’s cool to be a baby-daddy rather than a husband and a parent? Does he tell his listeners that they’re suckers for pursuing education and that they’re selling out their race if they do?
When Imus does any of that, call me and I’ll get upset. Until then, he is what he is — a washed-up shock jock who is very easy to ignore when you’re not looking to be made a victim.
No. We all know where the real battleground is. We know that the gangsta rappers and their followers in the athletic world have far bigger platforms to negatively define us than some old white man with a bad radio show. There’s no money and lots of danger in that battle, so Jesse and Al are going to sit it out.

Kim's New Job
Kimberly is now the music teacher for the new school building in Belton. It is going to be called Eastside Elementary and will open in the Fall. This will be a big change for her as she will be going from 5th & 6th grade to kindegarten through 4th grade. Along with this change comes the opportunity to have our girls in Kim's school which will make transportation issues and schedule issues much easier for us. The principal was thrilled to be able to get Kim for the new elementary. Kim has already worked under her before and they get along real well. All in all this should be a great transition for Kim and for our family.

Life With Twins

For those of you who have never had twins in your life we offer our heartfelt condolences. The wonders of two small humans with identical DNA are beyond imagination. We have the privilege of enjoying one child who loves pink with every fiber of her being. Here are some other observations concerning her: justice, kindness, tenderness, laughter, brilliance, caretaker, not forgetful, and unforgettable. Our other child that we have the privilege of enjoying is quite simply a powerhouse of individuality. Other observations are: boldness, kindness, loyalty, brilliant, fierce, showman, loving, and lovable. Identical DNA does not at all make identical beings. So much of our society labels people's potential and possibilities on what degree they hold or what neighborhood they're from or what their appearance is. Even the core make-up of our beings (DNA) cannot confine the possibilities of our lives. Our girls are as different as day and night thanks to Him who is able to do immeasureably more than all we can ask or imagine!

Merry Christmas
It is only four days until Christmas and I just finished my address labels for Christmas cards. Hopefully they will be sent tomorrow along with gifts for our family far and away. At least this year we made it before Spring! Sad, but true. Our timing is not the best, but our intentions are indeed pure. We love our family very much! I'm going to try to add a picture this time...no promises how that will go. If it doesn't work in the next five minutes, I'll try again another time.

Snow in Missouri!
It snowed yesterday. Officially on the record books, Kansas City received 0 inches of snow. But in the little town of Belton, Missouri, we received about 6 inches. This was after the freezing rain and ice...so it's slicker than snot on a glass doorknob. The girls and I have played outside twice now. They love to eat the snow and make snow angels. They even like jumping flat on their faces. This, of course, freezes their faces, but they love doing it all the same. Then, with fingers and toes freezing, we go in for hot cocoa. What a fun tradition. I'll try to post pictures later (last time it took me 20 min. to post 1 pic.). Ari's statement was the best..."It snowed! Do you know what that means? It means it's Christmas!!!"

Isn't it interesting how sometimes things don't work out how we wanted, but then they end up way better than we had planned. Sickness kept us from going away this weekend, but when the sickness went away we found we had all kinds of time to work in the backyard, play with the kiddos, and get some R & R. Wow! What a great weekend.

Frank Family Facts
This is my very first blog posting and I don't have a clue what I'm doing. It all started when I was reading my kid bros blog and wanted to comment and the next thing I know I am typing nonsense into a little box hoping that I will actually figure out how to make this whole thing work. I'm sure that it will all seem extremely basic at first, but I am a quick learner (even at the ripe old age of 32) and I'm sure that soon my three year olds will be managing the blog anyway. So here goes everything...
