Let Us Follow The Wise
There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.
Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.
Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends. -- Shel Silverstein

Jason, this is precious.
Your girls are adorable...and their love for one another shows in their faces. So innocent!
Shel Silverstein is amazing. I have three of his books and fond memories of my sixth grade teacher reading to us aloud from this very book.
Thanks for sharing.
Great shot! They are growing up though, darn it!
I remember that place...

love shel!
i'd be willing to wager that you never run out of hugs and kisses?
our little girl just got home from an all day at the church she attends on sundays - now, we may sleep easy this evening.
nanc -- every night the last thing they say to me is that I am beautiful and sweet and handsome and I reply that they are strong and brave and kind followed by hugs and kisses around. We, too, are an affectionate family.
TMW -- yeah, they grow too fast!
Pinky -- thank you! They are certainly a wonderful gift from God. Shel Silverstein has been one of my favorites since my own childhood.
Great picture, Jason! You are so blessed with a beautiful family that is so full of love! It's a great testimony of what an awesome father and husband you must be!
Daniel -- I don't know if I am a great husband or father but I do want to be so very much. I plead with God to make me into the husband and father that He wants me to be. Also, I have other great husbands, like yourself, to help to sharpen me. Give our love to your wonderful wife, my friend, and thank you for your steadfast friendship.
when they turn about 11 or 12, you do realize you're going to have to ugly them up a little? yeah, we had to do that to zgirl up until the last year or so - then the beauty just burst on the scene and there was NO containing it any longer!
she has informed us that in addition to being a pro golfer, she's going to be a preacher when she grows up - we'll see.
What lovely little girls, Jason!
I hope you have a big backyard and a shovel... ;)
brooke and nanc -- the most gentle care providers also tend to be the fiercest of protectors. I may have a little of both in me and their mother certainly does!
You are surely blessed, Frank Fam!
what beautiful girls! You sure are blessed!
Thank you so much edge and z!!!
You've got some cute little kids there! Almost as cute as mine (but I may be a little biased...).
As you should be Michael. Thank you!
