Mazel tov! Is that a 4-pt? Too bad my black lab is bigger than your deer. I guess you just discovered a new "hobbit" species of whitetail! Just joking....I love the backstrap...save some for us!
Congratulations! At least you didn't kill Bambi. Daniel feels much better about your hunting trip, now... he even wants you to save the backstrap after he prayed your gun would jam. Oy vey... some people, huh? :)
But I'm in with Daniel on this one... save the backstrap and we'll all come visit you. :o

My apologies to those in the West and the North for the size of my deer. For Missouri, this is a real good size deer. Not huge, but good size. For the most part we don't have 300 lb. deer around here. They estimate our deer herd to be about a million and that's a lot of mouths to feed.
The backstrap will be ready next weekend. Everyone come on out and we'll cook it up right for you!!! Together with some potatoes, some sweet corn that I cut off the cob this summer and froze, some steamed cauliflower with cheese we should be set. For dessert I'll bake a fresh apple pie and get some cinnamon ice cream or black walnut ice cream. Come one, come all!!!
