I can honestly not think of one single advantage to socialized medicine. Government has proved over and over and over again that the more they are into our personal lives the less beneficial it is for us. Why would we want them so close to our very health?
Greenbacks for Granny. Yeah, it's got a nice ring to it.
First they come for the old, then the sick, then the mentally ill, then the fat, then the person who parties too hearty, but we should trust them because they better than we do.
This boondoggle bill needs to go where Hillarycare went... into the great trash heap of history.
You people are insane. You have no problem with a bunch of faceless suits in the upper echelons of America's HMOs deciding whether or not to fund the most basic of medical procedures and you somehow have a problem with enormously subsidised or FREE health care just because it's being provided by the Government! Haha! I guess you don't have poor friends who have been totally screwed up by the current ridiculous system.
My family and I lived in Australia for 10 years. The American healthcare system is a laughing stock all over that country. People give you looks of disbelief when you tell them basic surgery can cost you thousands of dollars. Poor people suffer because of the greed of the HMOs, the inane decisions that have been made by successive administrations over this issue, and the great unwashed masses that immediately associate acts of charity establishing universal health care with stripping them of their "liberty".
You speak of terror at debt, yet you elected the man who, along with his father and other men of his ilk, have single handedly destroyed the foreign reputation of the US AND plunged it into recession. Now, with an opportunity to help redeem this country in the eyes of the world by introducing comprehensive public health care, you're rambling on about some conspiracy-sounding crap. GIVE ME A BREAK!
I have a friend in Austalia who wishes for the American system. He's an amputee who can't get a prosthetic. Apparently according to the Australian healthcare system one size fits all. He hates the system that's nearly killed him several times. His cousin is a doctor and despises the system as well.
singlehandedly destroyed our reputation abroad?
Only with the leftists who hated us in the first place.
and btw my friend uses crutches and wheelchair. He longs to come here where he can get a custom prosthetic. He was very very active before his amputation. It's very sad.
If you would like to compare the health care of Australia then let's put it in perspective. Australia has a population of around 21 million people. That would be equal to Michigan and Ohio combined or about 7% of the US population. Not exactly apples to apples.

Socialized medicine only benefits one group of people: politicians.
