First Things Times Two!

All parents of small children know that each and every day holds an infinite realm of possibilities. Today we have not one but two new firsts. Our daughter, Arianwyn, has her first loose tooth. She is thrilled! She says that she "always wanted to have the first loose tooth." She can't wait to see what the tooth fairy will bring her and wanted to know what Mama Frank and I got from the tooth fairy when we lost our first teeth. She's convinced that the apple she ate yesterday is the cause of it and she could not be any happier.

The second first was from our Jessica. Our girls go to the elementary school where Mama Frank teaches. After school they walk down to her classroom while she finishes up whatever from the day or prepares for the next day. One of the other teachers has his kids there as well and so our girls and his kids often play together after school in one of their rooms. Today while going from one room to the other suddenly the fire alarm began to sound. Mama Frank walked out into the hallway only to see Jessica standing in front of the freshly pulled fire alarm. Oh boy!!! I would say these things only happen to me but I know better than that. Mama Frank used the situation for a learning experience. She marched Jessica down to the Principal's office and had her apologize to the secretary (as the Principal was not there today.) She then marched her to each and every custodian and had her apologize to them as they were the ones running around to find out if the alarm was real.

What stories do you guys have of your children's "firsts"?

"Firsts"? None from my children, but I'd say this is the first lesson in character I've seen a mom teach her children in too long a time! God bless Mama Frank ... Another person to be thankful for...Thursday and always!

Crossed or not, that is ONE pretty shade of blue eyes, by the way!

Remember when Lord Of The Rings came out? McDonalds had toys, and one of my eldests first words was "Galadriel". I was so proud.

My youngest was the first of our two to swim under water, she's quite a fish.

When our first child lost his first tooth, I remember having to go down to the bank and get a roll of silver dollars (we figured he's be losing a few). Then Mrs. contributed some "glitter" for sprinkling on the his bedroom window sill... and we were all set for the "tooth fairy".

Oooh. Pulling a fire alarm is a hanging offense in our school district! LOL!

When my kids were little, they went to the same school where their mom taught. One day they got some sidewalk chalk and drew a big devil face on the sidewalk there, then labeled it with the principals name. Not bad for a third grader and a second grader, but it went over like a lead balloon with Der Fuhrer.

Jason, is that a picture of your daughter? Too cute!
My kids' firsts....my son (at the age of four) was the first of my kids to shout "howdy grandma!" to a woman in her early 30's as we walked into church. The woman had premature gray hair...and did NOT find my son's greeting humorous.

Ouch.

She also happened to be one CRANKY individual, to kids and adults.

tee hee.

When Grace was three she was pushing a toy baby carriage around the big dining hall at the camp ground for one of our family reunions. All of my relatives (about thirty of them) were watching her and telling me how cute she was when she got the carriage wheel stuck on a chair leg and exclaimed, "Well, sh*t!", threw her hands in the air in disgust and turned and walked out the door. Everyone was speechless for a few seconds before the laughter started. Not really one of my proudest moments, but Grace's first cuss word was definately one of the funniest. :)
