Lion King the Musical
Today the Frank clan took the day off from politics and football and went to see The Lion King. This was the traveling Broadway troupe. Kim had asked for tickets for her birthday last month and so this was a kind of left-over celebration from her birthday. If you get a chance to see this show by all means go. The basic story follows the Disney movie and most of the songs from the movie are there. There are also several original songs. The real wonder of the show is the quality of the female singers and the pageantry of the costuming and dance. My favorite singers were the grown up Nala, who had a very powerful voice, and the lady who played Rafiki the baboon. She had a traditional African voice and it reminded me of my time in Nigeria, West Africa. The singing that I heard there was a singing of reckless abandon that went on for hours and payed no attention to time and space. This musical transported me back to that time and that feeling. The costumes were simply ridiculous. I could say 10,000 words about the costumes but would still not begin to do justice to them. Fun was had by all.

Soooo Cool! Glad you guys had a great time!!!
the costumes are spectacular - nancson and i love stage plays - we have "cats" on vid and it is a favorite and we'd like to go see it in person.
delayed birthday presents are the best - although pop and i don't exchange gifts sometimes we buy ourselves something and say, "hey! look what you got me for my NEXT birthday!"
Kim and I don't get each other anything for Christmas (even before we had kids) and so we make a bigger deal of birthdays.
wonderful that you all enjoyed the show. I'm so glad, Pops!!
I bet that was amazing. What were Kim's favorite parts?
She says that she loved the opening with all of the animals (especially the giraffes and the elephant). She also loved the scene after Mufasa died as it was much more powerful than the movie.
Aww... you've got the best wife ever. You already know that, but still. I love her.
I'm glad y'all had a great time...what memories are made of!
Good morning, G*D bless and Maranatha!
