Following on from the success of the Ruger LCP, Ruger has unveiled the Ruger LCR (Light Weight Compact Revolver). The Ruger LCR will be available 1st March 2009
The revolver features:
* Double Action
* Polymer fire-control housing
* Aluminum frame with black “synergistic” hard coating
* Fluted stainless steel cylinder, lightweight and compact.
* 5 Rounds in the cylinder
* Replaceable front sight.U-notch rear sight.
* The fire control system has been designed with a friction reducing cam that allows a very smooth trigger pull.
* The internal lock has been designed so it will not interfere with the fire control components.

I was never a fan of revolvers. I believe my favorite firearm manufacturer was/is Glock. They make a handgun that is virtually indestructable.

I like a hammer on my pistols. I know they snag on things, I guess I am just old fashioned.
@ The Hermit - Its all in your head. The hammer really serves no purpose. In fact it takes more force and your trigger finger to move the hunk of metal in double action.
I am not 100% sold on it either. My concerns are all in construction using aluminum. The way it attaches to the barrel makes me question the durability.
Have you seen the Down Range TV video about Ruger's New LCR Revolver? Besides the guy pointing the gun and pulling the trigger at the Engineer it is pretty good.
Gun sales here in Northern Virginia have been booming. In fact, we now have an ammo shortage!

AOW -- it's getting very difficult to find 9mm ammo here in Missouri. Walmart is the least expensive supplier and they are simply out all over. When I talk to the clerks there at the gun counter they say that for the last two months whenever they do get some cases of 9mm ammo in the first person that asks for it buys it all. The last time I was there a man bought $1400 in ammunition.
She is a beauty, although I do prefer a hammer myself. I guess I belong in the dinosaur league.
I'm not worried about ammo shortage. Mr. Cube does his own reloads.
