Croneyism

cro·ny·ism (krn-zm) n.

Favoritism shown to old friends without regard for their qualifications, as in political appointments to office.

I heard Sarah Palin using this term in her interview with Sean Hannity. I just wanted to mention that I like this term and the image it places in my mind. What image does it place in your mind? I'll start with this:

cronyism = kissing familiar arse. don't know any purty way to put it! essentially it means somebody has something on YOU! you'd best be nice to them. never learned that aspect of life...it's ALWAYS better to keep a little more dirt on the other guy than they have on you!

I love the Jungle Book. I watched a million times..in Spanish and this is my favorite scene. Each bird has a different accent, Mexican, Argentinian, Cuban...hilarious!
But, the real cronyism is not so funny.

I picture the crooked politician in O' Brother Where Art Thou?
The one who is a member of the KKK.
Cronyism...never being challenged or held accountable which goes well with laziness and corruption.

i'm with pinky...

my mental image is of oh brother where art thou? with the "re-form candidate" and his "little man" were going to take out all the "isms" from government.

of course, he was the local leader of the KKK, and was subsequently strung up on a pole and carted off somewhere in the movie.

if you have not seen this movie, shame on you. everytime you see it, it gets better and better.

favorite lines...

"gopher, everett?"

"you two are just dumber than a bag of hammers."

"i've said my peace and i'm countin' to three."

dang it....now i wanna watch the movie again. :-)
