My Man Weekend
Since my lovely wife and wonderful children are still away until Monday I have been spending the weekend doing typical "manly things." Friday after work I went for a motorcycle ride with a couple of my co-workers.
After I rode home I went out for a good steak dinner with my father. Just the two of us.
Then I went to a friend of mine's house to play a couple rounds of Texas hold-em. There were 14 of us guys and everyone had a great time. I actually got knocked out with the hand shown above. How do you get knocked out with pocket aces? I couldn't believe it either.
Saturday morning I went out for another ride and had a philly cheesesteak with mushrooms and a chocolate shake.
Saturday night I had to make a decision between a rodeo or a truck and tractor pull. A friend of mine was in a little event where 3 guys compete by the 1st guy holding a cow still (that would have been my part), the 2nd guy attempting to put a saddle on the cow, and the 3rd guy trying to ride the saddled cow to the end of the arena. The winners get $200. It definitely sounded like fun to me but being a bit of a gearhead I opted for the blaring sound of excessive horsepower being unbridled. I LOVE how that sounds and feels!!! Some people do things like these to "be a man." I do them only as a way to celebrate being a man with other men. All in all this celebration was good for my man-soul.

It was fun to "see" what you did this weekend...and it's not even over yet! Glad you've been having such a great time.......and enjoy your reunion with your family! z
Manly men doing manly things...it's good for the soul!
I would have gone for the rodeo myself.
Good morning, G*D bless and Maranatha!
tmw
A very manly post!
by the way..you don't use IRISH SPRING soap, DO you!?
Z -- Actually I do!!! I told Pinky that I would have been good friends with her papaw.
That tractor guy needs to invest in a new set of rings...
what?..no manicure or pedicure?..LOL
I'm envious! Sounds like a great weekend, but knowing you, you were super-excited when the girls got home. :)
I guess I should've been a man, because this sounds like a perfect weekend to me. That steak dinner looks scrumptious!
Glad you're having fun. :)
Pops, you'd be good friends with ANY other good person.
Woman..you made me laugh out loud!
And OH, PLEASE send me a Philly Cheesesteak..I have NEVER HAD ONE!!!
Z -- come on out this way and visit us middle-o-the-country-dwellers and we'll keep you and Mr. Z fed well.
Steph -- I think we'd be great friends indeed. How'd your vacation go?
Daniel -- They still aren't home yet. :( They'll be coming home on Monday though! They called me tonight while they were getting tucked in for bed. I sang them "You Are My Sunshine" over the phone and they sang songs back to me. Can't wait to hold them tomorrow.
Angel -- Being a mechanic a manicure would be like beating your head against a brick wall. LOL!!! They would just look at my hands and laugh!
Berty -- This is actually a relatively new technology for the pulling circuit. When they are starting to rev up the tractor to start pulling the smoke is a whole lot less and very white. As the RPMs increase and the pistons and block heat up they get to a point where they are extremely hot and then they inject water into the cylinders and it creates instant steam and with it massive amounts of horsepower and tons of deep black smoke. Then they start their pull. It's quite a sight!
I must be a dude at heart... Everything you described sounds WAY more fun than 'girlie' stuff! LOL!
You just put me in a mood for a cheesesteak smothered in onions and mushrooms! Mmmmm!
And then you retired to the mancave.
The End.
;-)
ahhhhh male bonding rituals...gotta love 'em!
Elbro -- Great to see you out and about!!!
Cube -- Great ending!
Brooke -- I don't think fun like this is a man trait or a woman trait I just think of it as good clean fun. I've been jealous of your little cigar gatherings as well. We could really tear up the town if you and your hubby and my wife and I set out with all our youngins!!!
pop's idea of a manly weekend - freeing endless amounts of nightcrawlers in an attempt to catch a trophy bass - yeah, buy'em and free'em i always say.
um, papa frank? have you had your cholesterol checked lately? just sayin'...
*:]
I never heard of cholesterol before. What's that??? I am also a great advocate of freeing nightcrawlers. Pop and I could fill quart jars and swat mosquitoes till daybreak while we freed all them poor worms. A little laughing and a nice cigar and we'd get along just nicely!
Didn't you even consider a walk through the mall??????
bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahaha!
what about lighting some candles and having a long hot bubble bath?
