Booker T. Washington Predicting Jesse Jackson

"There is a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs-partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs."--Booker T. Washington, 1911

Pops, this is AMAZING... he couldn't define Jesse Jackson any better than this!
Al Sharpton, too. Simply incredible to read this; what a clairvoyant HE was...

Although I would love to take credit for knowing the view and words of such a great man as presented here, but I heard the quote from Brooke awhile ago and thought this was a perfect circumstance to illustrate the truth of it to others. Props to ya Brooke!

Went to his birth place in Virginia. Very interesting fella! It's a shame when you talk to a kid about Booker T they think of the guy WWE.

That's a good quote and true to the point of being painful. You did us all a favor by posting it here. Brooke comes up with some good stuff and I've used things she found before, like you I'm careful to credit her.

Wow. Mystic Minstrel is right, 100 years later and we're still stuck on stupid with the Rev JJ and Sharpton.

I shared the Washington quote with email friends and linked your site, too...I got this from one from a very bright guy in AZ and thought you should see it!: "That is an interesting website. Loved the "White Rose" tribute to his wife"

You do good work!

When I was living in Israel I once came here to visit. On the way from Chicago to LA, non other than good ol Jew-hating Jesse sat in 1st class. I was going to say something, but he would have sued me and that's my Jesse moment.
