Nastia Liukin and Shawn Johnson battled through the talented Chinese girls AND the judges to take the gold and silver medals in the individual all-around gymnastics. Nastia Liukin is the all-around champion and Shawn Johnson was right behind her. Congratulations girls!!! USA - USA - USA

There is controversy about some ages, especially one Chinese girl's age in particular. I don't see a huge reason why she can't be 16. And aren't the rules that they need to be 16 sometime the year of the Olympics, so technically they can be 15 and legit., right?
The issue is that she was in a chinese newspaper 6 months ago. It was talking about how great she was and extolling the fact that this greatness was at the age of only 13.
I don't really see the younger age to be an advantage or, for that matter, see why younger girls are not allowed into the competition. I do know that the chinese, when compared to their american counterparts, did receive higher scores for routines that were not better. Shawn Johnson in particular had two of her scores curiously low for her performance.
I agree with you on the scoring discrepancies, Jason. It was also obvious in men's diving. Shame, shame.

Yeah, she certainly got the short end of the stick on this one , cube. Not to take away from Nastia as she was brilliant as well.
China has really shown it's ass in these Olympics with this "age-gate" nonsense! I love it! Shows the whole world just what a bunch of screwups they really are!!!
